Shearwater welcomes Stephen Cryan to its team.
Stephen joins our professional services team, expanding our skills in areas of compliance, Identity Management and messaging. Stephen has a masters in Systems Security from the Macquarie University and is currently researching security topics for his doctorate.
Mark Hofman, who is the professional service manager of Shearwater Solutions, presented the Assessing and Securing Wireless Networks track for the SANS Institute Brisbane conference. The SANS institute is recognised as one of the leading training institutions for information security. Mark is currently the only SANS certified trainer from Australia and has presented for SANS at a number of training conferences. He is scheduled to present at the SANS Sydney training to be held at the Sydney Hilton from 5-10 August. He will be presenting on “401 Security: SANS Security Essentials Bootcamp Style.

Martin Kaldor, a director of Shearwater Solutions, has been re-elected as vice chair for the Australian Information Security Association (AISA). Martin has held the position of AISA National Chair previously and has been involved with AISA for the previous six years and has been instrumental in its establishment and growth. Martin was re-elected at the AISA Annual General Meeting which was held on the 24 November.

Forum Systems and Shearwater Solutions Sign Business Agreement to Offer XML and Web Services Security Solutions in Asia Pacific Market and to meet expanding Web services and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) demand in Australia and New Zealand
SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 28, 2006--Forum Systems, Inc. and Shearwater Solutions today announced an agreement for Shearwater to distribute and resell Forum Systems' pioneering Web services security and XML networking products. Shearwater Solutions has selected the Forum SOA Security Suite to provide comprehensive vulnerability assessment, security management and XML acceleration for the financial services, government, healthcare and automotive industries. This agreement defines a multi-year strategic partnership between the two companies.
As enterprises standardize on Web services and the principles of SOA, they must revisit their security strategy and implementation across enterprise. Information represented in the extensible Markup language (XML) and the transactions that rely on Web services protocols are vulnerable because existing security mechanisms such as Secure Sockets Layer, Web Single Sign-On and Basic Authentication cannot control the flow of loosely-coupled interactions. Intelligent security and networking intermediaries that can interpret XML messages and Web services communications are required to enforce enterprise policies such as message-level access control, content-based routing, content encryption, service-level agreements and service-oriented identity management.
